Cherwell District Council – ‘Severe Weather Emergency Protocol’

With temperatures set to drop, wind chill and a possibility of snow tonight, the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) will be effect overnight, to ensure additional emergency beds are available for people sleeping rough.

If you have nowhere to sleep tonight or are concerned about someone who is homeless or sleeping rough, please contact the Cherwell District Council Housing Options Team on 01295 753751, available Monday – Friday from 9:00am – 5:15pm.
If you need to speak to someone outside of these hours please call 01295 221531.

If you see someone bedding down or sleeping rough, please report them via the Streetlink website –, or by calling 0300 500 0914.
This will allow the outreach team to support individuals and identify the options available to them.

It is likely that the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol will remain open for two nights due to continuing low temperatures.
